Ramen is a delightful soup served piping hot with wheat noodle and lots of vegetables — a perfect dish that you can prepare quickly for a healthy autumn dinner or a light lunch. You can customise it almost indefinitely with ingredients you like: eggs, meat, vegetables and rice cakes. I will show you how to prepare a simple, but very tasty ramen based on bonito fish stock (bonito dashi) and eggs.
Tuna paste is ridiculously easy to prepare and makes a great no cooking bento, cutting the preparation time to less than 20 minutes, including rice cooking time! Now, that's what I would call cooking on the go! You can also use the tuna paste for a great tasting onigiri or sushi.
Today was one of these days that my coffee needed a coffee... And I really couldn't make myself cook in the morning. So, the vegetarian bento was made! It's fast, it's simple, and it tasted great. Consider that a fancy salad for lazy days.
I got tired of sausages after yesterday's deluxe bento, so today I decided to have some eggs with lunch. I put some sweet mustard over the cooked yolk to have them pack some punch and they were really interesting!
I prepared also hand-made furikake (rice sprinkles) with ingredients I like, which made my rice extra tasty today!
Bento is not only rice, and you can eat a delicious meal with other ingredients like potatoes, green beans and... cornichons! This is my bento idea for days when I literally cannot look at rice, e.g. the day after sushi day. And, because most of the ingredients are pre-made in jars, you can quickly assemble this set when you're short on time. What's not to love about this bento idea?!
